FLDS Texas has just posted an audio (well, technically a video, but it is a slideshow set to a Warren Jeffs tape) of Uncle Warren explaining why the FLDS should lie to the rest of us…
OK, let me make sure I understand him.
When John Y. Barlow was President of what would later become known at the FLDS, he was imprisoned for polygamy based offenses, and sentenced to 5 years. Barlow, then 71 years old, apparently did not like prison, for when the Government offered him a way out, he took it. Of course he signed a pledge not to further practice polygamy, then asserted the Lord told him not to sign it, then signed it anyway. See Imprisonment, Defiance, and Division: A History of Mormon Fundamentalism in the 1940s and 1950s, from Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought, Vol. 38, No. 1, Spring 2005, p. 79.
Gee, if he were the prophet, and the Lord told him not to sign it, then why did he sign it?
He only promised “To refrain hereafter from advocating, teaching or countenancing the practice of plural marriage or polygamy.” See The Polygamists: A History of Colorado City, Arizona, 2004, p. 59. Of course as soon as he was released, he advocated, taught, and practiced polygamy.
Anyway, Uncle Warren says that this is OK, it is perfectly acceptable to lie to the Government in order to get what you want, then go right back to violating the law…
I can’t help drawing the parallel between this lesson of Warren Jeffs and the declaration by Willie Jessop stating that there would be no more underage marriages (after having denied that they ever took place in the first instance). Willie, of course, declared the mini-manifesto right smack in the middle of ongoing CPS cases and grand jury indictments. It was exactly what Jeffs was directing his followers to do in this tape — say what they want to get out from under them, and then go on and do what you’ve always done. Lie to get what you want…that’s what it boils down to.
Of course. ALL righteous religions lie to get their own way. I’m sure in Celestial Heaven you get a bigger mansion for the more lies you’ve told to get your Godly way.
and they wonder why the general population think they are liars.
All you can hope is that anyone who must weight sentencing or parole will be aware of this philosophy.Hopefully the internet will help put an end to the lies and games the FLDS leadership have been playing for so many years.
After the 1953 Short Creek Raid, Men also signed documents to no longer marry underage girls. LIARS!!!! always have been, always will be!
Nobody lies like bureaucrats. Guaranteed, Texas state officials have out-lied FLDS. And when they come to collect your guns, y’all just be truthful and hand ‘em over now.
hmmmm TAnticoregardlessThe flds lie like a rugI looked in the bibleCouldnt find Warrens loophole.LEA and the public learned their lesson. When plygs oink thats all it is – oink.
So to follow that oinkThe end result is life sentencesCuts down on all the oink we in the real world are subjected to.
Tantaco,Can you document those lies? We stopped counting the documented FLDS lies at 30.As for the gun issue?Yeah, that will happen… NOT.
Yes, the lies are documented, and I didn’t even need to. Plenty of others have done that. NonFLDS is ahead at a ratio of no less that 10:1.Remember, when your 2nd Amendment rights are systematically dissolved, be sure to tell the truth. It will be your duty as a U.S. citizen to conform to the wishes of the state-god you worship.
Tantaco,Exactly where are they documented? What do you base your so-called ‘10:1′ ratio? Do you have any actual evidence or are you just stating your desires? You obviously don’t know what you are talking about in regards to either the FLDS situation or the Second Amendment.
truthwillprevail.org has the best collection I know of. There’s too much to read. 10:1 is definitely a bit reserved though; especially if I get to count each time an antiFLDS lie is repeated by someone else publicly. As for the 2nd Amendment, I’ll stay on subject as best I can and save that for perhaps one of your future entries. I mainly brought it up as a comparison.
Tantaco,Many of the claims on that website have been disproved, such as the one where Ranger Long took the warrant request to Judge Griffin, the denial of underage marriage, the claims of lying by ex-members (the apostates) when there is a tape by Jeffs praising the lies of John Barlow, etc.You may choose to believe their propaganda and lies (such as the groundskeepers bed), but that website is not reliable.
a lie i just remembered. leroy jessop was interviewed with his wife leann. when she was asked how old she was, she looked at him and he told her she was 18. that’s a lie. she was not 18 at that time although she might be now.
Good point. We’ll add that to our list.
